The average tourist thinks that to beat the casino, you need a photographic memory capable of tracking every single card in a six-deck casino shoe. This could not be further from the truth. Real, professional card counting does not require a perfect memory. Instead, it is a highly systematic mathematical tracking system that uses simple addition and subtraction to gauge the mathematical edge. This is the real math behind how advantage players use simple math to crush the casino.<br>
The Basic Math: How the Tally Works
<br>The most widely used card counting strategy in the world is called the Hi-Lo count. In this system, you do not remember specific suits; they group the cards into three categories as the cards hit the felt. Low cards (2, 3, 4, 5, and 6) help the casino make hands, so when we see them, the count goes up by one. Face cards and Aces are what the player wants, when they appear on the table, the count goes down by one.
